Presenting a way to visualize Biochemical alignments such as those seen between alignment search queries and their subjects, using a three dimensional arrangement of shapes. Conventional approaches use two dimensional flat displays. The viewer presented here arranges the alignments in a cylinder, which spins past the eye line of the user, so that patterns can easily be seen among the different sequence alignments. This approach takes advantage of three dimensional viewing technology, which may have been largely ignored in the past.

Alignment data often arises in the field of Bioinformatics (and by extension Biology). These fields deal with sequences of residues, polymerized to form very long chains of heterogeneous nucleotide bases, or amino acids, which make up genes and proteins, respectively, and it is often useful to identify similarities between sequences using automated tools.
